Kentucky Innovation Network Center at EKU co-sponsors Bitcoin digital currency seminar
The new Bluegrass Community & Technical College, located in Lexington, was the setting of an extraordinary seminar titled, “Bitcoin 101: Revolution or Craze,” hosted by TechBase10, an initiative of the Kentucky Innovation Network, along with web development company 212ths.
On January 16th, 2014, more than fifty people came out to learn more about Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a new type of money management; some may even consider the digital currency of the future. It is a way for businesses to pay each other without using a middleman, such as banks or credit card companies. Digital currency is a revolutionary idea that is currently in practice around the world. It has gained significant momentum among the tech world.
Kristel Smith, Executive Director of the Kentucky Innovation Network Center at EKU, stated, “the seminar on Bitcoin was a very interesting and informational session on different ways to think about currency. TechBase10 and the Innovation Network support the development of innovative ideas, as well as, fundamental and conventional strategies and training to support entrepreneurs and established businesses.”
